CONFERENCE TRAVEL GRANTS: Funds in the form of student travel grants are available to support currently-enrolled undergraduates who present their scholarly research at professional academic conferences under the mentorship of full-time faculty. For our purposes, the Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR) defines undergraduate research as “an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline.” Please do not apply for funding until after the student has been officially accepted to present at an academic conference. The maximum amount per travel grant is $500.

GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY MENTORS: Funds are limited, especially as the academic year advances, so if a student(s) under your mentorship wishes to present his or her research at a conference in the spring semester, please complete and email the attached 2018-2019 FACULTY INTENT TO APPLY form to me, Verónica A. Gutiérrez, Director of Undergraduate Research (vgutierrez@apu.edu) as soon as you and the student decide to present, and I will do my best to accommodate those requests. The maximum amount per travel grant is $500.

GUIDELINES FOR UNDERGRADUATES: Faculty mentors should have their undergraduate researchers download and complete the attached 2018-2019 UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH TRAVEL GRANT APPLICATION form (also available on the Undergraduate Research Program website). Faculty must complete the faculty mentor section. The completed form should be emailed to me, Verónica A. Gutiérrez, Director of Undergraduate Research (vgutierrez@apu.edu) at least two weeks prior to the conference date. Handwritten or incomplete forms will be returned to the applicant and delay the evaluation process.Faculty, please remind your students to address me as Dr. Gutiérrez, not Veronica or Ms. Gutierrez.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications will be considered anytime during the academic school year. Evaluation of the grant will commence once I receive the completed Undergraduate Research Travel Grant Application and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Submission of an Intent to Apply form and/or the Undergraduate Research Travel Grant Application does not guarantee funding. Applications will not be considered during or after the conference date.
