Melanie Petersen, M.S.
Melanie Petersen joined the faculty in 2017 as the Director of Recruitment, Retention, and Engagement. Melanie is a two time APU alum by completing her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a Concentration in Marriage and Counseling before going on to complete her Master of Science Degree in Research Psychology and Data Analytics.
Melanie now runs the Living Learning Community for Psychology as the coordinator and professor for the program. The Living Learning Community began in 2018 and has grown into 3 separate cohorts including Freshmen living on campus, Freshmen commuters, and Transfer students. The LLC is a unique opportunity for new students in the major to get to know one another by being placed into a cohort model among other incoming psychology majors. Those students take two classes together in the Fall and one class together in the Spring and are provided with a number of events and activities to foster growth and engagement throughout their time at APU.
She is also the Program Director of BA Completion in Psychology at the Monrovia and Orange County Regional Campuses.
